Zuma is Malibu's biggest and most popular beach, a nearly three-mile ribbon of wide, clean sand with lifeguards, volleyball courts, restrooms, and generous parking that make it the go-to for families and day-trippers. The surf is a punchy beachbreak that throws mostly lefts on summer south swells, with mellower peaks toward the north end and heavier, faster waves to the south. Rip currents are strong here, so swim near a lifeguard tower. Fall typically brings the cleanest conditions. Its scale means there's almost always room to spread out, even on a hot summer weekend.
