La Piedra is the middle of the three Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beaches on Malibu's western coast, a small, scenic pocket reached by a stairway down the bluff. Like its neighbors El Matador and El Pescador, it offers rocky coves, tidepools, and excellent sunset views rather than amenities, and the sand narrows sharply at high tide. The small clifftop lot and stair access keep crowds thinner than at the larger state beaches.
