Mishe Mokwa Trail is the scenic half of Malibu's classic Backbone-to-Sandstone Peak loop, winding past the balanced boulders of Split Rock and up through some of the most striking rock formations in the Santa Monica Mountains. Connecting to the Backbone Trail, it can be linked into a longer circuit to Sandstone Peak, the range's highest point. The trailhead is on Yerba Buena Road.
