Escondido Falls is the tallest waterfall in the Santa Monica Mountains and one of Malibu's signature hikes. The trail begins along Escondido Canyon, crossing the creek several times before reaching the multi-tiered falls, which run strongest in winter and spring after rain and can slow to a trickle by late summer. The lower falls are an easy family walk; the upper tier requires a steeper, more technical scramble. Parking is limited at the trailhead lot off Pacific Coast Highway.
